Ila Marie Quaak, 73 of Coldwater passed away at her home Monday, April 8, 2019.

In following her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Ila was born May 23, 1945 in Coldwater. She graduated from Coldwater High School. Ila was a hardworking woman, spending many years at Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital as a Care Giver. On May 17, 1996 she married Byron Quaak.

Ila was a woman with many interests. She enjoyed doing cross-stitch and knitting work. Ila also was an avid gardener and reader. Her true joy in life was spending time with and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for being nice, kind, and outgoing with a great sense of humor.

Mrs. Quaak is survived by her husband of 23 years, Byron Quaak, Sr. of Coldwater; her children Andrew (Lucy) Bates of Ann Arbor, David (Leslie) Bates of Coldwater, Mark Burkett of Coldwater, Byron (Annie) Quaak, Jr. of Bronson, Ben Quaak of Reading, and Brandy Quaak of Bronson; her grandchildren Karina Bates, Davilynn Bates, Desirae Bates, Andrew “AJ” Bates, Courtney Bates, Nikki Quaak, Annie Quaak, and Tyler Quaak; her great grandchild Riley Osmun; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dick Bates.
