Regina H. Hersh, 96, of Coldwater, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM., Thursday, April 11, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to the memorial mass at the church with the Rosary being recited at 10:30 am. Inurnment of ashes will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Regina was born on September 10, 1922 to Frank and Catherine (Sushoenske) Nickles in Harbor Beach, Michigan. She served in the United States Army as an Air Flight Nurse from 1942 until 1945 attaining the rank of Sargent. While in the Army, she met and then married Allen Hersh in Casablanca, N. Africa on October 27, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2000.
She had worked at Douglas Auto-Tech in Bronson, the Coldwater State Home and then at the Michigan Department of Corrections as a Procurement Officer from which she retired.
Regina loved watching NASCAR Racing, she was an avid gardener, crafter and also enjoyed cooking, knitting and sewing blankets for infants in hospitals.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Regina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allen, her sisters Stella Rumps and Eleanor Penny and her brothers Sylvester Nickles, Joe Sobecki, William Sobecki and Floyd Sobecki.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School.
