Raymond “Ray” Frederic Cutler, 101 of Quincy passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
In following Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Cremation services have been provided by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Raymond was born March 26, 1918 to Wilbur D. and Alma (Kelly) Cutler in Whiting, Iowa. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1936 and continued taking business courses at Parsons College. In 1943 he was drafted into the US Army, proudly serving during WWII in both France and Germany. He married Grace Elaine Ross on April 15, 1938. She preceded him in death in 1968. He later met and married Violet Jean Lechlitner on November 9, 1985.
Ray was a hardworking man. He owned his own sales company for many years before taking a traveling sales and technical position with Stryker Corporation. Raymond worked well into his 70’s before retiring. He was a past member of the Fidelity Mason Lodge in Kalamazoo and the Order of Eastern Star #123.
Ray was a man of faith attending the United Methodist Church in both Kalamazoo and Quincy. He had many interests including going antiquing, being a handyman and reading (Violet read a lot of books to him). Ray had a huge sweet tooth, especially enjoying ice cream and cookies. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, as well as being kind, gentle, and considerate. His true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grand and great, great grandchildren.
Mr. Cutler is survived by his wife of 33 years, Violet Jean Cutler of Quincy; his daughter Celeste (Norman “Doug”) Denruyter of Galeburg; his daughter-in-law Bonnie Cutler of Campbellsville, KY; his step-children Harold Glick, Pamela (Jim) Chapman and Meena Arvind; his grandchildren Tammy Torres, Tracy Lasley, Richard (Jessica) Bidwell, Cleve (Amber) Epperson III, Erik Bidwell, Connie (Steve) Hamilton, Aaryan Arvind and Aardarsh Arvand; his great grandchildren Andrew, Keeana, Logen, and Noah Bidwell, Devon Hendrix, Anna (DJ) Hudson, Clara and Louis Innamorato, and Constance Mueller; and his sister-in-law Helen Lechlitner.
