Obituary for Robert Edward "Bob" Turner

Robert “Bob” Edward Turner, 70, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Coldwater. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Bob was born on May 19, 1948 to Jack and Phyllis Leone (Smith) Turner in Detroit. He married Mary Jane Phipps on July 29, 1967 in Detroit. Bob was inducted into the United States Army on January 5, 1968 and was honorably discharged on December 19, 1969 having attained the rank of SP4.
Bob, along with his wife owned the R & G Food Market in Coldwater from 1980 until 1994. He has also worked as a chef at Firehouse Restaurant in Coldwater for many years and then he retired from Aunt Millie’s Bakery in Coldwater as a baker.
He was a member of the Coldwater Optimist Club and was the chairperson in charge of creating the park located next to Pansophia Academy. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching old movies, going to the casino and helping children.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years Mary Jane; his children, Adam (Jane) Turner, Ted (Sandra) Turner and April (Chad) Harris all of Coldwater; his 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; his siblings, Barbara (John Thomas) Simpson of St. Joseph and Bryan Simpson of Elliston, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Bill Simpson and his sister, Linda Babbish.
